Lapdock for Smartphones

Android Desktop Mode

With Android 16 QPR3, desktop mode is now a native feature — no hidden settings or developer options needed. If your phone supports USB-C video output and runs Android 16 QPR3, you can use NexDock as a full lapdock right out of the box.

For Android 16 QPR3 and later:

  1. Update to Android 16 QPR3
  2. Connect to NexDock with any USB-C cable that supports video output
  3. That’s it.

For Android 16 (pre-QPR3):

  1. Enable Developer Options: Settings → About phone → tap Build number 7 times
  2. Go to Settings → System → Developer options
  3. Scroll to Window Management → turn ON “Enable desktop experience features”
  4. Reboot
  5. Connect to NexDock with a USB-C cable that supports video output

Your external screen instantly boots into a full desktop with taskbar, resizable windows, and full 1920×1200 native resolution — while your phone screen stays normal.

Requirements

  1. Your Android smartphone must be running Android 16 QPR3 or later.
  2. Your Android smartphone must support DisplayPort Alt Mode (video output over USB-C). You can find the complete list of compatible smartphones here.

Most smartphones with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or newer CPU and a USB 3.1 Type-C port support DisplayPort Alt Mode — unless the manufacturer has deliberately disabled it. Note that some devices, including certain OnePlus and LG models, have USB-C implementation issues that may prevent OTG keyboard/mouse recognition when connected via DisplayPort.

Nex Computer does not provide technical support for incompatible devices.
